Overview

Rockerbox’s Google Ads integration allows you to automatically import spend data and apply tracking parameters to your campaigns. The integration supports both spend tracking via API and automatic URL parameter appending.

Setup Process

  1. Visit the Advertising Platforms page in your Rockerbox account
  2. Find Google Ads in the list of platforms
  3. Click “Connect” and follow the authentication steps
  4. Contact support@rockerbox.com with:
    • Your channel information
    • Launch date
    • Desired tier structure for the marketing activity

URL Parameters

Auto-Params Feature

Google Ads supports Rockerbox’s auto-params feature:
  • Parameters are automatically added through the Google Ads API
  • No manual parameter configuration required
  • Existing UTMs and custom parameters are preserved

Available Dynamic Macros

Google Ads automatically populates these values:
  • {campaignid} - Campaign ID
  • {adgroupid} - Ad Group ID
  • {creative} - Creative ID
  • {network} - Network type
  • {keyword} - Search keyword (for search campaigns)
  • {matchtype} - Keyword match type (for search campaigns)
  • {placement} - Placement URL (for display campaigns)

Special Campaign Types

Shopping Campaigns

For Google Shopping campaigns:
  1. Parameters are automatically added to product URLs
  2. No additional configuration needed
  3. Works with both standard and smart shopping campaigns

Dynamic Search Ads (DSA)

  • Auto-params are fully supported
  • Parameters are added to the dynamically generated landing pages
  • No manual configuration required

Video Campaigns

For YouTube/Video campaigns:
  • Auto-params work for TrueView for Action campaigns
  • Parameters are added to the destination URL
  • Video discovery ad parameters are added to the video landing page

Account-Level Implementation

If you prefer manual implementation, you can add parameters at the account level:
  1. Navigate to Account Settings > Tracking
  2. Add parameters to the tracking template
  3. Start with {lpurl}? for new templates
  4. Use & to separate existing parameters

Verification

After setup:
  1. Check that tracking is applied to all your ads using the Advertising Platform page
  2. Verify URL parameters are correctly configured
  3. Confirm spend data is being imported

Multiple Accounts

If you manage multiple Google Ads accounts:
  • Each account needs separate authentication
  • Complete the “Add Authorization” steps for each account
  • Auto-params will be enabled for all connected accounts

Support

If you encounter any issues:
  1. Check that your Google Ads account has appropriate API access
  2. Verify your authentication status
  3. Ensure auto-params are being applied correctly
